What a complete bathroom renovation can include

A bathroom is a small room with a lot going on behind the finished surfaces. A complete renovation may involve stripping out the old room, changing the plumbing or electrics, preparing walls and floors, fitting the new suite, tiling and decorating.

Arch can take on bathroom-only work as well as bathrooms within a larger internal renovation. The agreed scope can include:

  • removal of the existing bathroom;
  • plumbing and electrical work;
  • plastering and surface preparation;
  • fitting the bath, shower, WC, basin and furniture;
  • tiling, painting and finishing work; and
  • heating, lighting and storage planned around the room.

The aim is not to add work for the sake of it. It is to identify what the room genuinely needs, then set out one practical scope before the project starts.

Start with the way the room needs to work

The best bathroom layouts begin with daily use. Who uses the room? Is it a busy family bathroom, a private en suite, a guest shower room or a bathroom that needs to become easier to use over time?

Those answers affect almost every decision. A bath may matter more than a large shower in one home. In another, better storage, easier cleaning or a less cramped route through the room may be the priority. Moving plumbing can create a better layout, but it can also change the budget and programme, so that decision needs to be made early.

One coordinated bathroom project

Bathroom projects become difficult when design decisions, product orders and site work are treated as separate jobs. A missing fitting can stop the installer. A late layout change can affect plumbing, electrics, tiling and the final cost. Arch's role is to bring the agreed parts of the project together. You have one team to discuss the design and specification with, and the work is quoted under Arch's name and insurance.

That does not mean every decision is made for you. It means the decisions are put in the right order. The layout and technical needs come first, followed by the fittings, finishes and installation plan. When the scope is clear, the proposal can be based on the room you are actually creating rather than a generic package.

How your bathroom renovation works

  • 1. Tell us about the room

    Bring photographs, rough measurements and any ideas you have to an initial conversation. Explain what is not working now and what you want the finished bathroom to do better.

  • 2. Develop the layout and specification

    Arch helps shape the layout and product choices around the room, your priorities and the agreed budget. Seeing materials and fittings in person can make decisions about colour, texture and scale much easier.

  • 3. Confirm the scope and proposal

    Before work begins, the proposal should make clear what is included, what is excluded and which decisions still need to be made. Any change that affects cost or timing should be agreed before the related work goes ahead.

  • 4. Coordinate installation and finishing

    The existing room is removed where required, the technical work is completed and the new bathroom is fitted and finished in the agreed sequence.

Choose the details with confidence

Bathroom products need to work together in one room. The dimensions of a bath or shower affect circulation space. Brassware needs to suit the water system. Tiles, lighting and mirrors change how the room feels, while storage has to be useful without crowding the layout.
